David Marten
Wind Energy Expert

David Marten studied mechanical engineering and physics, with a focus on aerodynamics in Dresden and Berlin. In 2010 he initiated the open source wind turbine design and simulation software project QBlade. Over the years he constantly expanded QBlade's functionality and applied the software in numerous national and international projects and QBlade quickly became a "standard" software for wind turbine aerodynamics that is applied in research, education and industry worldwide. Currently he is working as a research fellow and project leader on QBlade development at the wind energy group of the TU Berlin chair of fluid dynamics. His research interest includes wind turbine aerodynamics, vertical axis in particular, aerodynamics of buildings and turbine micro siting as well as structural models and aero elasticity. During his time as a research fellow he has published over 25 Journal and peer reviewed Papers in Conference Proceedings.
